Description
This photo was taken Above Eternity Beach and the Halona Blowhole on a beautiful sunny day just as the Geyser burst into the air. The Halona Blowhole is in the middle left position of the image.
This location was made famous for is being setting where Burt Lancaster kissed Deborah Kerr while laying on the beach and the waves splashing on them. The scene was a short, but it was memorable and is one of the most famous Love scenes in movie history. The film also won Eight Academy Awards including those for Best Picture and Best Director. The beach is also known by the locals as cockroach cove, but that name is hardly inviting or romantic so most people stick with Eternity Beach or Halona Cove.
If you are ever on the Island of Oahu this is a must visit while you are on the island. The South Eastern Part of the Island of Oahu is a great place to go because there are so many great things to see. It is home of Hanauma Bay, Koko Head Crater, The Halona Blowhole, Eternity Beach, Makapuu Point (the Eastern Most Part of the Island of Oahu), Sandy Beach (one of the best places for Near Shore Surf Breaks) and Waimanalo Beach (home of Crystal Clear Blue Green water).
If you do visit this area please be careful because it is a fairly dangerous place to swim or walk on the rocks. Several people have died here in the past and this location is not to be taken lightly. With That being said if you are careful and attentive you will be fine and enjoy this beautiful beach while you visit the Island of Oahu.
